The 115 Funniest Things to Ever Happen on Survivor

#77. Chad has a leg up on Chris
Vanuatu - Episode 8

This is a great moment that I had completely forgotten about until I went back to re-watch Vanuatu. It is one of the all-time best "oops!" moments in Survivor history and I have to thank a reader named Michelle for reminding me about it. Nice catch, Michelle.

It's the fourth day after the merge and the men of Lopevi realize that they are in big trouble. Rory was just voted out the night before, and that makes the gender tally six women against three men. And in a gender-based season like Vanuatu... that aint good news. Chris, Chad and Sarge are doomed and pretty much everybody knows it. In fact, the only real mystery remaining is what order the three men are going to be voted out. And who will be the last man standing of the three? Will it be Chad, will it be Chris, or will it be Sarge?

Chad and Chris discussing their inevitable fate

So anyway Chad and Chris are sitting on the beach discussing this topic and Chris accidentally uses a phrase he probably should have stayed away from. Chris states that he believes he will be the first one to go because... and I quote...

"I think both of you have a leg up on me."

Chris continues making his point until he suddenly pauses... and realizes what he just said. Did he just say that a guy with one leg has a "leg up" on him? Really? Meanwhile Chad begins to crack up as Chris immediately starts apologizing.

"Dude, I didn't mean to say that. I'm so sorry!"

Chad begins to joke around about all the "leg jokes" you can make and it's clear that he isn't offended. But it's quite obvious that Chris is mortified. He can't believe that just came out of his mouth. And like I said, it's one of the single greatest "oops!" moments in Survivor history. If you ever watch Vanuatu again and see this scene play out, I guarantee you are going to laugh.

"I can't believe I said that dude had a leg up on me."
