Why the Heroes vs. Villains premiere is so awesome, and why Cook Islands sucks.
My Funny 115 research notes
The
picture above represents the 730 funniest Survivor moments of seasons
12-20. It took me about eight months (and a few rewatchings) to
come up with all the nominations, and I broke them down season by
season on a separate piece of paper. The yellow and blue pages
are the finalist moments I narrowed down for each season.
Oh and
before you say "That doesn't look like 730 moments", just realize that
each of those pages has things written on it on both front and back.
My Gabon notes
Above
is a picture of my Gabon notes. These are the notes I was taking
as I was sitting down, watching Gabon with my wife Diana. Every
time I thought something was funny, or I thought might be Funny 115
worthy, I wrote it down. The circle in the bottom right corner
of each box represents the episode number it was in. A black
circle means Gabon episode 1, red circle is Gabon episode 2, green
circle is Gabon episode 3, and so on. Anything from 3-6 nominated
moments per episode (like I have above) is pretty typical.
Why do I show you my research notes like this?
That's
easy. Because the picture above is my Heroes vs. Villains
research notes. Actually, no, not that's not quite true.
The picture above shows my research notes just for Heroes vs. Villains episode one! Remember
how I said that it was normal for a Survivor episode to get anywhere
from 3-6 nominated moments for the Funny 115? Well the Heroes vs.
Villains premiere had... are you ready for this?... thirty three
nominated moments. Thirty three! Thirty three nominated moments in just one episode!!
By the way, I say 33 instead of 35 because the last two on the bottom right
were from episode two. But still, you have one episode that
almost makes up an entire page
of Funny 115 nominations. That is unprecedented. No other
episode in Survivor history has even come close to 20, let alone 33.
Oh
yeah, and have you ever heard me say that Cook Islands is the least
funny season in Survivor history? Well here you go. My
research notes for Cook Islands. For the entire season:
Cook Islands sucks
That's right. 42
nominations. For the entire season. Cook Islands is the
only season in Survivor history where I have been able to fit
every single nomination on a one sided page. And I would guess
that 20 of those 42 nominations were just me being generous.
Cook
Islands is a really really boring Survivor season.
